Who am I?

Talking Therapies - VanessaI am a qualified and accredited Psychotherapeutic Counsellor and Supervisor. I am also a relationship counsellor and completed my training with Relate. I have worked in many settings during my career. I have a small private practice and experience of working in the private and public sector. I have worked for three different IAPT services across the Midlands, as a senior counsellor, supervisor and more recently as an Interpersonal Psychotherapist (IPT).
Whilst training I worked for a charity supporting both the victims and perpetrators of domestic violence.

Prior to training as a Psychotherapeutic Counsellor I was an adult trainer and worked for many years delivering training (NVQ courses) for a national charity.

This new venture enables me to combine my skills and qualification in both fields to provide what I hope will be a quality experience local to you.

Inspiration behind TTCPD

As a qualified Psychotherapeutic Counsellor, I found myself increasingly frustrated by the inaccessibility of quality CPD delivered by the ‘big names’ in our profession. The cost of travel to training often delivered in London and the South of England, on top of the cost of training and the time in travelling making attendance impossible financially and practically.

I wanted to hear the people whose books I’d read and had inspired me but the time and cost made this impossible. So, I decided if I couldn’t get to the ‘Mountain’ maybe I could get the ‘Mountain’ to come to me and other equally frustrated therapists. So, my quest began, with emails and phone calls I contacted speakers, whom I would have liked to see and gauged their willingness to travel to conference. I sought out venues that could accommodate the volume of delegates, provide good refreshments and be accessible both by public transport and road links. Parking was also an important factor.

Newark on Trent was perfect with good road links both North/South via the A1 and East/West with the A46. The town has two stations Newark Northgate on the London to Edinburgh line and Newark castle serving the East Coast to Nottingham Derby and beyond. A venue in a lovely setting was found a short walk or taxi drive from the towns stations and located just off the A46; Newark Rugby Clubs conference suite.

So, in the Summer of 2019 Talking Therapies CPD Limited was formed.
